I Caught a California Alligator Lizard

Paradon Apr 28, 2009 09:56 PM

We went hiking on Monday which was pretty cool and windy and on the way back we saw a juvenile California alligator lizard sitting on the hiking trail basking, so I caught it and kept it because I always wanted one. I was curious as to how many can you have in your possession and is their special laws regarding this subspecies of southern alligator lizard. Already, he has eating a lot of crickets.

lol Don't worry about it. They aren't endangered, and the possession limit is of lesser concern than something like jaywalking, or dog leashing. If you're afraid that the authorities are going to decide to waste their precious time checking how many lizards you have some reason then don't keep more than two.

Also "A current California freshwater sportfishing fishing license is needed to take, or collect, reptiles and amphibians in California, except for rattlesnakes, which are not protected by law", so you better make sure you have one of those licenses as well. I guess you better let it go if you don't. jk

Thanks for the info! I'm not really worry, though, but just curious and to be sure. That's all! Thanks again!

Paradon, i thought you lived in Thailand or Malaysia? Thats a mighty long swim, even for an alligator lizard!
