Just seeking some opinions on this issue. I've read that the Aru locality is generally the most docile in temperament, and I'm wondering what you keepers think.
As a side note, I am aware that viridis is generally considered a "hands-off" species.

From my experience they are the most docile. I have seen some aru's that are hell on wheels! Sorongs are also known for being on the calm side. As far as hands off...I handle my chondros regularly and haven't had any problems!

I personally think that the Sorongs are the most docile. Both of my Sorong types are the most docile animals on the planet. My female I consider completely safe, even for children. Of my two Aru's, my male is the most evil being on the face of the Earth. I can handle him outside of the cage, but he grabbed onto my husbands wrist for no reason when I had him out one day and he's come out the cage door and repeatedly struck at me when I've gone to spray him. I'd tale a Sorong over an Aru any day.

I have read the same thing about arus! I own an adult female aru and she is as calm as the day is long! She just laid eggs on April 2nd and didnt even attempt to strike at me when I took her off the eggs which is VERY RARE! I have an adult male sorong and he is a doll baby as well!
A lot of it depends on the snake and if it has been handled since its youth. But in general arus and sorongs are both mild mannered during daylight hours! Almost all gtps are aggressive at night and your hand should never enter the cage once the lights are off or the first ten minutes they are on!
