Shedding, Only for Growing or Shrinking?

FireStrings85 May 14, 2009 08:43 AM

My Dumeril is a very fussy eater. I don't think she's sick because her behavior hasn't really changed too much, and she flicks her tongue on the beat (I know decrease in tongue flicking is a sign that a snake may be under the weather). I know Dumerils take a long time to reach maturity compared to other boa species, but I really feel like she hasn't grown more than maybe 6 inches in the year and a half or so that I've had her, she hasn't grown much in girth either, which these species are known for as I'm sure you all know. Anyway, her skin is getting somewhat loose but at the same time she had a healthy shed (all in one piece) just last week. I wouldn't assume they shed if they are shrinking, can anyone enlighten me?

She may be adding length and not so much girth. Snakes will continue to grow no matter what. Thats why they will still shed even if they are "fasting".
