double clutch

mlove May 14, 2009 10:25 AM

Is it possible for a chuckwalla to double clutch? My female layed eggs 3/16/09. Since then she has gained all of her weight back (she has always been a plump girl) and two days ago she started frantically digging again.

Yes,
We had a female double clutch 3 seasons in a row.
It definitely is not the norm, but does happen.

Good luck,

Thank you so much for the info. I'll put her lay box back inside her enclosure just in case. The mom is Tiny my favorite and very first chuck that I ever had. Since this is all new to me I am a nervous wreck.

Tiny just finished giving me 7 more eggs. One looks iffy but the rest look good. Poor girl is very tired and she has every reason to be. I am very proud of her but hopefully this will be the last time she ever has a double clutch. Thanks again N&A sharing your experience and knowledge

Congrats on the second clutch!
It does seem like it is kind of hard on the females, laying 2 clutches a year, and I think that only some females in their prime will do it.
Take Care.

She told me that her 9 year old Ripper double clutched this year!

Yes, she laid on Maurch 13th and again on May 17th, but this is a first for me...and Ripper, too! LOL Do you think there is something in the air????

Congrats on your eggs. I think these girls are just trying to kill us from making us worry twice as much.
