reading your Dumeril

apocalyp May 29, 2009 07:06 AM

I'm just curious if others find their Dumerls really easy to read. When I go to feed my snakes if look at my Dumeril and her eyes look pitch black I know she'll eat. If her eyes look normal then she definately won't. I don't know if there's a reason for this but it's awesome for me since I don't thaw rats un-necessarily for her.

Anybody else notice this or any other behavior indicators?

I don't notice anything like that my Dums. eat like crazy but I do have one that has a strange trait I got her through a rescue her owner who was a woman said she was very aggressive and was scared to handle her so I took her in she is a swwetheart loves to lay on my shoulders and watch tv however you bring a woman around and she goes nuts she will strike and has even chased women around at my place so I can never take her out if a woman is here but guys no problem so weird.

I notice that my Dums have a tendancy to hang out at the front of the cage, with just their heads visible from under the newspaper or aspen when they are hungry.

i agree about the feeding behaviour. its extremely simple to tell whether my dummy (sandals) is ready for some grub; she sits underneath the aspen shavings save for her head just poking out. one thing i have noticed however, is how unpredictable they can be. i hold my girl on a regular basis but occasionaly (i think it might be because she perceives something around us as threatening), she will strike at me. Only twice has this ever happened but its still quite shocking as she's mostly docile. anyway, thats just my input!
