Lack of Soaking

Jstop11 Jun 13, 2009 11:07 PM

I have had Phineas for about a year now. He's about 2 years old and 30 inch long. I have never seen him soak in his water bowl. I have to manually soak him in my sink every time he in his shedding cycle. I also have to manually remove most of his shed, including his head piece with eye caps. I know that he spends a little time in his dish because of the substrate in it. I don't know if it madders but the water dish is on the warm side of his cage. Also Phineas spends all of his time buried sometimes with his head poking out. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I've never had to soak mine and I hadn't seen her soak until recently. She hasn't had any problems shedding.

My dish is pretty much in the middle so half on the warm and the other half on the cool side. I mist her every 2-3 days when she's not shedding (sometimes less but I use a UTH so it doesn't dissipate as much.)

When she's in shed I'll usually mist her every morning to made sure the humidity is good enough to help her shed. I don't soak the tank but enough to create a bit of "dew" on the glass.

Spending time buried is normal, mine does this all the time even when I had a hide in there she never used it.

Hope this helps.
