I've made an indoor pond since I recently had to move. I'm afraid, however, of the lack of sunlight for my turtles. I know that many mercury sun bulbs are out there, but they're out of my price range, for now. So for any experts out there, can you tell me if two hours is adequate for my eight turtles.

They'll get about 2 hours of sunlight in the morning, since I have them on an outside veranda where the sun shines through from about 7-9a. The rest of the time I do have heat lamps but have yet bought special lights and just use ordinary 100W bulbs.

I may buy some bulbs but would like to know whether or not this amount of sunlight is sufficient for my turtles. If I do have to buy bulbs, can someone direct me as to a reasonable store to buy from and one that delivers internationally?

Thanks

If they are getting sun from 7-9am, I would supplement
them with UVB bulbs.

You do not have to use the mercury vapor bulbs with them.
These are actually strong. I do use them for my desert
lizard, Ichabod, as he requires very high amounts of heat
and UVB.

Get online to LLL reptile. The generally have the
Reptisun 5.0 priced very well. I have used these
on all of the turtles and think they are probably the
best for this purpose. You would need regular household
bulbs for heat.

Hope this helps

Yes, thanks. Besides from ReptiSun 5.0, what vitamin supplements do you use?

I've had my turtles outside so long I've forgotten what's best.

Nice picture.

I do not use vitamin supplements. As long as your feed
them a varied diet and care for them properly, they do not need them. It is better not to give them any, as you can overdose
them which can cause other health problems.

Thanks
Linda
