I'm pretty new to Jungle Carpet and I got my first one a coule month ago. Right now I've got him with overhead lamp running about 11 hours a day on a timer. I've looking a the eventual cage I'll use for him a an adult and found that I want a cage that I can stack with my other cages. This leaves me with 2 options.

1. Install a fixture inside the cage with some protection to prevent him from burning himself.

2. Switch to UTH like my other snakes, but I though that since they're semi arboreal they prefer heat lamps. Also at this point would I want his hide on the cool or warm side?

Thanks for the help

You could probably also use a short heat cable. I think the one we have is made by Zoo Med. Ours is fifteen or twenty feet I believe. You can use it under the cage or inside it and the first few feet near the plug are cold so that's a nice extra. I have it wrapped around the two dowel rods in my home built cage I have my two jungle carpets in. It works pretty good. I believe it is available in different lengths, for various sized caging. Hope this helped.

I use a heat panel with mine, and he seems to really like it.

I'd put hides anywhere/everywhere you can to let it choose where it needs to go hide and feel safe in the temperature it needs at the time.

I've got hides all over the place, and he uses them all.

Post pics when you can!
