chicken only diet for greens??

spmoberl Jun 26, 2009 11:12 AM

I had a problem feeder green that finally got started on live chicks, and now eats F/T chickens. Finding chickens isn't a problem, but I am curious if a chicken only diet is sufficient for a green anaconda. Do I need to consider supplementation, and if so what kind?

Thank you much!!

Steve,
Jud and I spoke about this the other day and he thought young greens did quite well on chicks alone. I think it would be alright for the first year or two, but it would probably be good to supplement greens older than this with an occasional rat, or switch over completely to rats. As they get larger, you are going top be needing to feed rabbits, as adult chickens probably would not have the food mass necessary for an adult green unless you were feeding quite a few of them.

Thanks again! This is a much better problem than the one you helped me with a while back, which was not eating at all.
