My awesome BIG OLD BOY, KONG.......

It's been coming slowly, he has been failing, don't make it any easier glad for ALL the time I got to enjoy him and the years he got to enjoy romping, I think he had a FUN time for many years free roaming and running the reptile room I thank my ole Pal Johneee Eddington who wrangled him, and sent him to me in a sock many years ago. I KNEW when I saw "KONG" and how gorgeous he was (battle scars and all) that he had me wrapped all ready. He was BIG, he was beautiful, he was full of personality, and he was a GENTLE GIANT and I will never forget him, ever.

I will miss him terribly, and now I do not want to talk about it anymore.

He was such an awesome boy! I know you are heart broken, but I also know that he couldn't have had a better life than the one he had with you!

All the oldies that were around ( on the forum) back then when I got KONG, and constantly plastered his pics all over the place, and often told KONG stories, and the newbies too, for your kind thoughts

* KONG made me fall in love with these lizards ( collareds) I was mesmerized by him.

We have all lost some special ones along the way, they are the neatest little lizards around.

I can't believe how many years you got to enjoy that big boy, Eve. I would have never thought it was possible to get that lizard to the point of thriving in captivity. You did so well with him, I'm never disappointed in seeing him in your care. You did an exceptional job with him (minus the plastic surgery he desparately needed to fix that face)... :O)

You gave us all many years of a lizard that would never would have made it that long in my home.

A Sad day for sure...

How old do you think KONG was when you wrangled him? He was a big older looking feller , so add 7 years to that that I had him, I figure the big handsome boy was truely an OLDER gentleman.

PS.. as I said in email Johneee, Thanks for Sharing tonight and all the comforts

KONG

I'd say he lived as long as a collared could possible live in captivity from birth to death...but he lived a good longer than most do in the wild before that!

He was a bad boy for sure.

My condolensces,

John E

Kong was a very special guy, and I will miss hearing about him and seeing his photos. You gave him a great and long life. It was his lucky day when he got stuffed into that sock and sent to you!

I'm so sorry for the loss of your bud Kong, colourful in so many different way.

When I first started reading posts on the Chuck Forum and went to your Suncharmers site, it was Kong who made me start lurking here on the Collared Forum. Of all the beautiful guys and gal Collareds that I have come to enjoy from the posts, Kong was at the forefront. He is indeed, and ever will be..The King! I grieve will grieve him with you.

All say the nicest things, so comforting. It is always a good feeling coming here and sharing , ups, downs, and all around things , lol, because as most of you probably know many people NOT into this hobby/ reptiles, can not understand how we could get so upset over a lizard. it's hard talking or getting any empathy from NON- LIZARD loving people. They just don't understand like we do...

THANK YOU ALL

My mother used to say to me, "Maureen, someday you are going to get your heart broken when some boy tells you, 'lips that touch lizards will never touch mine!'" NOT TRUE!! LOL

PHEve Jul 02, 2009 02:36 PM

Funny Mareen, My mother encouraged me to KISS the critters, and stay away from BOYS , hehehehehhee LMAO :P

So sad to hear about the old man!
I remember when John sent him to you and the cool story behind it. We even went back to Kongs old stomping grounds to try and photograph and offspring the monster may have left behind.

He had an amazing life with you!
My daughter is now SIX years old, and a herp freak herself!!!

Take care Eve!!

Sorry to see him go. He was one of the most impressive collareds I've ever seen. We all know he had a good life with Eve.
