spuds Jul 01, 2009 12:10 AM

My apologies newbie question. What water temps are recommended for adult spotteds?

It is not very critical. Throughout the year, (living outside 9 months of the year) my spotteds experience water temperatures ranging from the 40s in midwinter to the mid 90s in Summer. They show more distress on the high side, but in the end they seem to take it all in stride-at least they grow, eat and breed very well.

Try to keep the water around 55F to 75F. When they are outdoors in the summer sun it gets hotter so flood the pool with cold water from the hose(if it comes out cold where you live) or throw in a bag of ice. They like it cool.
