Baby fence lizard questions.

T1tanrush Jul 02, 2009 10:56 PM

I have about an inch long fence lizard I captured about a week ago, have him set up in a small rubbermaid with dirt and some sticks. I have the top cut open with a screen put in for ventilation and whatnot.
Is this a suitable setup for him? I haven't observed him eating yet I'm only now trying to figure him out. I'm more used to decent sized babies than something this small and picky. Any suggestions?

Do you have the baby lizard under UVB lights? They need that so as not to develop metabolic bone disease. They also need a dish of water. You will have to find the tiniest crickets for this little guy. Could probably get some wingless Drosophila hydrei (the larger species) fruit flies, too. Keep him at about 85 degrees, and provide him a temperature gradient, so he can pick where he wants to be. He will also appreciate a small hide box.
