I have never used perlite, sorry! But I wanted to tell you that I incubated my first clutch of eggs the way you are going to, in a plastic container. I measured the temps in the garage and different locations outside (at different times of the day and night) to find places where I could maintain a constant temperature. I had to move the container several times a day.

My room stays within 80-87 degrees farenhiet.Would that be fine?I can move them to a room where it is 83-89.
Hi Snow, I have also never used perlite, just vermiculite. The temps in your room would be more appropriate. I always keep my incubator at mid 80 range approx. 84 . Always remember not to let temps go below low 70's or 90/ above
Mid 80's is the safest way to go.
