HR669 and Garters

LisaJ Jul 05, 2009 08:16 PM

I'm concerned by this HR669 bill. Will this affect keeping garter snakes as pets? I realize they are native, but they aren't on the 'white list', which seems to only be domesticated animals. I believe that with a fishing license in CA we are allowed to collect up to 2 snakes a year to keeps as pets. I'm not 100% sure about that but I remember reading somewhere something like that. I don't know if that will change. I was hoping for a CB baby albino checkered, but wouldn't mind a CA Red-sided garter, which are pretty too. They live around here.

As last written, HR669 would only affect animals not native to the U.S., including garters.

On rerereading-my above post was badly worded-no, it would NOT affect garters at all!
