Diet For Fire-Bellied Toads

Maxmommy Jul 06, 2009 10:21 AM

I have had Fire-Bellied Toads for quite some time now. The older ones would eat live insects, but now I have babies (25 of them!) that I hatched from eggs. I am feeding them a diet of goldfish flakes and pinhead crickets. They seem to be doing fine. Now, can I condition them to eat dried/frozen food, or must they have live insects to survive? I spent $5.00 on crickets yesterday, and they're already gone! Could get expensive....

they need live food to thrive, i have not heard of a non-aquatic frog living on flake food or frozen food.

you should order in bulk if you have that many toads, southerncricket.com is a good place to get them from, you can order in quantities of 500 which should last you a while

i'm not sure how large the froglets are, but you could also try culturing fruit flies, email me at mynameisMnM@gmail.com if you have any questions about culturing them.
