They hatch out w/ white bands and gradually change as they age.

There is quite a bit of variation in the tone and color they may exhibit as adults.

Generally, north FL produces ones with bands that lean toward staying white but that's never a hard and fast rule.

Okay thank you very informative.

I was looking for adults with white . I see now not to be found in Florida

It is possible but I would bet they'd be from northern FL. The Carolinas often have what you're looking for I think.

Yes ,after reading your post about the Florida scarlets with yellow bands I looked up other scarlets from other states and yes the Carolinas ESP further north have white bands.

I have found a few adults here in Florida all yellow bands .

After I got my fishing license as thats all you need here to collect a scarlet king. I had planned on keeping one. I caught one of them by glades outskirts but than felt it belonged wild not n a 10 gallon tank.
So let it go .

I was surprised no white bands now see non in Florida.

thanks

You're in FL? You don't need a fishing license except to fish.

I do fish lol but thought you needed license to collect one also.

I am not sure you even need a license for fishing lol. I might be one of the few in Miami with one .

Not to get off topic lol but -
The amount of illegal non licensed fishing and bow hunting that goes on here is a horror . I used to live in Upstate NY where even police ask for fishing license which is great here its totally different.

No one in charge could care less.
