Ritas Jul 20, 2009 02:23 PM

Hello
Do turtle tubs come with drain plugs?

I ask as have a stinpot turtle and interested in a turtle tub.

Right now he is in 20 gallon long but wanted something bigger that could be used outside (Florida) .

Thanks

I bought a marineland tub a while back and it didn't have drain plugs in it, you had to make it yourself.

Yes we saw one last week and no drain plug. We ordered a larger rounder water trough.

Thanks

Some of the Rubbermaid stock tanks come with drains, and you can get the supplies at a home improvement store to add a spigot for ease of draining. You can find Rubbermaid stock tanks at Tractor Farm Co. stores and some "feed and seed" stores, and they run less than $1 a gallon - so go big if you can, especially if it's going to be above ground to help with temperature fluctuations. If it's for a mud or musk, make sure to give climbing areas to reach the surface - water depth usually isn't an issue so long as they can climb to the surface in several areas - even egg crate screen propped on one side will help with climbing.
