Hemipenes staying out

architeuthis Jul 21, 2009 08:11 PM

Hello,
I'm new to breeding geckos. I just recently introduced my male crested to my female. This morning, his hemipenes was sticking out and it has stayed out most of the day. Right now it's partially back in and he's licking it. Is he OK? Is this normal behavior? I don't recall reading this when I was researching. Any help would be appreciated, thank you.

From what I'm able to find online, I tried soaking him with some warm sugar water, and that this may in fact be normal, post-breeding behavior.
