Question about DIs and bugs

Rosebuds Jul 22, 2009 10:36 AM

My fairly new wc female desert ig laid infertile eggs a few weeks ago, and she has remained thin since. I give them all a huge pile of greens daily, but she has not been eating ravenously. So last week, a well dusted cricket fell in her viv on its way to a collared viv, and she went NUTS! So I gave her another, then two, and she grabbed one, then the other before she had even swallowed the last! Now she waits by the side of the tank for crix! Should I let her have them daily or should I limit the bugs? I know that they are mostly herbivore, but that they do eat some bugs in the wild.

My Hershey eats crickets, and superworms besides his salads. Not many but he does enjoy them

I have (4) DI's. I feed mine meal worms almost daily! I use to feed them wax worms sometimes, but quit! Meal worms are better for them! Crickets ok to! The photo of my baby is now 7 years old. She is having a eye problem right now! The vet says it's pink eye. I have been giving her prescribed eye ointment. But it's slow getting better! Has anyone else had eye problems with their DI's?

Well, Mauzi passed several months ago. The other female DI finally laid her eggs, but they were infertile. Now I am waiting for Enola, the beyond gravid chuck to lay. If she doesn't lay soon, we are going for a ride to the vet's office.

The surviving female DI is still bug CRAZY! I have to admit that she is finally putting on weight, so I am letting her have at least a few a day right now. Once breeding season is definitely over, I will back off. I think she must need the extra protien right now, huh?
