Nino, check out some eggciting news

John-C Jul 22, 2009 05:21 PM

On of my recent imported female stehlini laid a whopping
size clutch just over two weeks ago. Don't know if it's a
record or not but it's good size at just one shy of 2 dozen.
These eggs all look great at 16 days. I think this is her first
clutch for the season so could be she'll top this next time!

Also, the G a atlantica laid her little clutch of three eggs
last night. Each egg is not much larger than a green pea.
They measure approximately 7/16" x 1/4". I could almost
put a half dozen of these tiny egg on that quarter if I had
six. I wonder if she'll lay a second clutch this late season.

Thanks Nino,
In the last three years or so that I've been producing the
G stehlini my females regularly produced from 10 to 13
eggs and usually two clutches per season. This 23 egg
clutch is a rarity, at least in my facility.

Also some of my cb females that I've held back are
displaying a nice soft blue coloration on their front legs.
You ever seen this in any you have worked?

Here's a picture of a hold back two year old shile showing
her blue front legs. She has produce her two clutches for
this season.

John
