Mudsnake eating

bladerunner8u Jul 24, 2009 02:38 PM

This is a 12" Mud I found a month ago.
It is feeding almost daily on tadpoles, has shed once too.
Will keep it as long as it keeps eating like this.
I plan to try minnows soon which will be easier to get than tadpoles.
Young Muds are much easier to get to feed than older adults that are set on eating Sirens.

never heard of them eating minnows before.

I did meet a guy who got his eating mice. He rubbed tadpoles on FT mice and then put the mice in the cage with 1 tadpole. The mudsnake ate the tadpole, then the pinky. After a while, he was just feeding it tadpole scented pinkies. Later, it would eat regular pinkies. Now the snake is an abult and eats FT rats

Ok it has been 3 weeks since the last post and the Mud is eating when ever I give it tadples.
It will gorge itself on them.

It has also eaten small tree frogs and greenhouse frogs.

My plan now is to try a FTP with tadpole scent in a few days.

Looks like its got the Alien here!

I love mudsnakes, but I'm in the same boat. The whole amphibian eating thing....yerk. I did vine snakes once and got 'em on pinkies but it was a PITA.
