Few questions on striped VPI line bloods

gofer Aug 03, 2009 09:33 PM

Hello everyone,
I am not completely familiar with the VPI line of striped blood pythons that I am working with and just produced babies from, I posted a few pics in a post below just after hatching. I want to keep a few back but am not 100% sure what the best ones to keep will be. I am trying to find a few other people working with this line of striped bloods. If you are working with them or just know a lot about the genetics please shoot me an e-mail, it would be greatly appreciated. Or if anyone can recommend others that would be greatly appreciated as well.

I am also trying to find anyone working with the Matrix (het Ivory) bloods too.

Have a great day and thank you in advance to anyone who can help me out. Once these guys shed I will get pictures of the ones I hope to keep!

I am working with the Borneo stripe and have genetic stripe reds from VPI, what were you looking for as far as information. I also have the Matrix if you have any Questions there.

Hello Keith,
Good to hear from you and thanks for the reply, greatly appreciated. I was at hamburg last weekend, did you happen to be there this time around?

I did recently talk to Tracy and she answered some of my questions but if you can let me know I have everything correct that would be great.

-This line produces "red albinos" (not T )

-All normals are not "het" for striping as dad is co-dom and basically just are normal poss. het albinos. (female is striped but from a completely different line that has not been proven genetic just yet)

-All striped and tri-striped animals will produce a super form labeled super stripes (one large stripe down the back?)

-Have you ever produced anything aberrant patterned with this line such as the banded animals pictured on your site (love those things by the way)

That is really what I wanted to check on, what line or albino gene was produced, what will the normals and striped or tri-striped babies produce so I know what is best to hold back.

Thanks Keith, I forgot to check to see if you were going to Hamburg last weekend but the next time I'm heading out there I will shoot you an e-mail and if your there say hello in person.

Have a great day,

Gregg

Gregg
no didnt make it to Hamburg but will be in Daytona if your going.
This line is the T line of Albinos not the T-.

Most of the time I feel you can see which babys have the gene for striping thru patterns that you see on known hets. I would not feel comfortable selling them as Hets but could make a guess if I was holding back for myself.

the super stripe form will have the classic wide stripe on the sides with the red color as well as the striping on the back.

Nothing with the banding has been produced by me with this line.

Hello Keith,
I won't be making Daytona this year but hope to get down there in another year or two to visit everyone. Thanks for the help on this line, I will be keeping the striped albino back i'm sure and just pick out an opposite sex albino to pair it up with.

Have a good time in Daytona,

Gregg
