Second Ornate Clutch Hatched!

Bits9532 Aug 06, 2009 01:34 AM

Yeehaw! My fourth and final clutch of the season is done hatching. I have seven more beautiful hatchlings from my Ornate pair- TankaTo and Mipaya. Mipaya is a rather plain female with hints of blue, and TankaTo is one of my favorite males. I love his deep turquoise color mixed with a dusting of rust across his back. He has matured and colored up so much since this picture was taken last year, but I just didn't have a chance to get a better one this year. Needless to say, I am a little busy with babies! In the midst of these guys hatching, I managed to acquire a beautiful pair of philbyi from Lindsay, and a gorgeous Macfadyeni male to go with my two females. I'm hoping next year proves as successful as this one!

Enjoy,
Elizabeth

Congratulations! Wow, you've had quite a year.
U. philbyi is such a cool Uro I managed to pick up a pair myself. I love how tame they are.
If you don't mind me asking, did you get the male U. macfadyeni from a seller on kingsnake.com? I thought I saw an ad for a male U. ornata but the photo looked more like a U. macfadyeni.

Yes it has been quite a year...Thank-You. I love the philbyi temperment too. They eat right out of my hand and do not seem to be skittish at all. I've had them one week today and you would think they have been here forever. Is your pair the same way? It seems to be a common theme with them. I hope you get some hatchlings from them next year! How are your babies from this year coming along?

Yes, the male Macfadyeni is the one you are thinking of. He looks just like the picture too- gorgeous. I have been trying to find a male for well over a year to mate with my two female Macfads. These two girls drop infertile eggs for me every year. I'm hoping he will solve this problem!

Take Care,
Elizabeth

Yay, Bits!! Congratulations on ALL your new uros this year, freshly hatched and not - especially on that male MacFad, since I know you've been looking for a long time!

I bet the local farmers' market/produce sections LOOOOOVE you! Do you know everyone who works there by name?

Thanks Torey, and congrats on your babies this year too! Yes, believe it or not, I do know all the names of the cashiers, and they know me very well. I tell ya, 41 Uro's eat a ton of food! They keep asking me to bring in pictures, so I guess I should make a little Uro photo book. I have one for my kids, who ever would of thought I would need one for my lizards too! LOL

Yes, my U. philbyi are the same way, very trusting. The baby Bandeds are doing great. Thanks for asking.

I do remember how fantastic that male macfadyeni looked in the ad. I'm glad you got him, as we need more captive breeding of this species. Hopefully you'll have pictures to post of all the baby U. macfadyeni and U. philbyi, you'll hatch next year.
