Sub-adult Veiled not eatting

brandonsthaman Aug 14, 2009 08:15 AM

My girlfriend has a male sub-adult Veiled Chameleon who has decided to stop eatting(or atleast cut-back a lot). As far as I know nothing(temp, lighting, etc) has been changed to cause this. If anyone can shed some light on this issue, or give me some tips to get him back to eatting I would greatly appreciate it.

Some background info:
-He was purchased in March of this year from a well known Cham breeder at 6 weeks old.
-He did have MBD but after treatment has been fine.
-He is housed in a 18x18x36 Screen Cage.
-Previously he fed on approximately 12 crickets and 5 meal worms daily.

As chams age their growth rate slows and so does their appetite. He's been eating a lot every day. Try feeding him every other day and diversify the types of feeders you offer. If he's drinking and acting normally there may be nothing wrong. Chams can go a week without eating much of anything as long as they are healthy and hydrated.
