Outside sunning in Peace

PHEve Aug 14, 2009 04:53 PM

Sunning outdoors everyday had become dangerous in my yard lately.

I always just packed everyone up each morning from their tanks, put them in tweaked sunning containers and put them in an area of yard/ shade/sun for the day. I did check on them from time to time, always worried if they were too hot or whatever if I had to leave the house for awhile. Then one day I went out with the dogs, and they tore after a LARGE hawk that was sitting near my containers admiring my lizards with a HUNGRY look. One look at the dogs and he flew up and glided gracefully out of my yard, only to sneak back about 1/2 hour later.

So we bought 2 extra large Dog kennels put them side by side, and I pack all the containers in each morning (weather permitting) and lock the doors and am at peace while they are out now. :0) The babys have been going out since they were 4 days old

Eve, thats a great way to keep the birds and cats out. Giving your lizards natural sun is the best thing you can do for them and it really brings out their colors.
