do u. sikorae dig

eWalk Aug 17, 2009 10:46 AM

last year was the first breeding season for any of my
u. sikorae. they are all wc and doing great and were still on paper towels when they started laying eggs so that is how I left them. Only two females laid egg. Now I have switched them over to a dirt type floor. I saw no eggs the other day when cleening so I remover the geckos and started turning um the bottem and spraying it when an egg rolled out of nowhere.

am I blind or was it below the surface. keep in mind I did slightly pack the bottem before putting them in hte cage

thanks

On occasion, Uroplatus will dig or bury eggs beneath something. The fact that they roll their eggs in the substrate leaves them well-camouflaged in their surroundings. One of my first experiences with satanics laying, i found an egg about a centimeter or two beneath the surface. It hatched fine. I've also had henkeli lay eggs beneath mats of moss.

I just found two more in the corner where a corkbark tube
was. the eggs were not covered but they did dig a 3/4 inch hole and lay them in it without covering them.
