After you breed the geckos, and the female is pregnant, do the male and female need to be separated into different enclosures or can they stay together in the enclosure if it's large enough?

After you breed the geckos, and the female is pregnant, do the male and female need to be separated into different enclosures or can they stay together in the enclosure if it's large enough?
I kept them together for about 4-6 months then separated the male...this way the female gets a break each year. She will retain enough sperm for a few more clutches after the male is removed anyway.
