HOW DO YOU GET BULLFROGS TO EAT FLOATING FOOD PELLETS. How do the big frog farms feed Bullfrogs. They seem to be very sight/sound/sent orented.Even my albino's with poor vishion seem to have to have pray movment.The vibratting plate is a joke. A lot of minnows pushing the pellets around doesnt work very good. Any frog farmers? You can go broke feeding these things! Vic

I really don't have an answer for you...

......MY idea of how to breed bigtime frogs would involve lots of small shallow ponds and lots of lights to attract bugs that would fall into water and always be around the area....they would feed themselves.......

....for fish ponds I would use bug zapper lights too over the water ....zap...fall into fish mouth....?

..as for pellets....???....you would think they'd pick it up sooner or later as they got hungry....but maybe not,...

my toads / frogs have always been fed mostly mouse pinks....(worms,crickets,pinks,mealworms etc...even spiders...)...but I raise my own mice ....

Frog pellets are great for big fish, tadpoles and xenopus (aquatic african clawed frogs) who will eat anything. Most frogs want something that moves. Buy some crix. Bug lights like was suggested. Otherwise....yup, you can go broke. Crix, til they grow to take pinkies, then mice....you get the idea. Bull frogs eat anything that moves and fits in their mouth. But it does have to move.

Vics questions originates because it seems to be true that the large commercial bullfrogs culture farms feed pellets.

So, perhaps insects are NOT required.

Vic, my thought has been they feed the tadpoles a pelleted food and simply never stop offering those pellets even after transformation.

So, get a few bug zappers, disable the zapper part and hang over the ponds. Free food for sure in your neighborhood. Then try my idea on the next generation when they finally reproduce!
