I have a WC female Mali named Max. I have had her for almost 6 years and I think she may be 6 1/2 years old. Today I removed the salt deposits from her nostrils. The left nostril appeared to be covered over with no air way. It came off easily as usual, but I had a darkish green smear on my finger afterwards. Has anyone seen this before? Is this something that would require a trip to the vet? She eats well, has proper temps, shedding right now, and is very active as usual.
I just checked her and there is no dicharge since finding the green smear on my finger about 45 minutes ago.
Thanks!

Well.. it could be something or it could be nothing! I know that helps a lot.
Possibly a bit of food or something like that got stuck around her nostrils and covered by the salt deposits, on the other hand it could point to some kind of respitory infection.
I would monitor her very closely.
How do her eyes look- are they watery, any discharge?
Listen closely for wheezing.
Is she eating and other wise acting normal? Or is she listless or inactive?
Are you monitoring her temps? Is the cage getting warm enough?
If she seems sick or it happens again, take her to a vet; if she is otherwise "normal" watch her closely for other signs of illness.
Or you could just take her to the vet anyway, but you have to weigh the cons of stressing this animal out vs. knowing for sure.

Thanks for the response.
Her eyes are not watery and dont have any discharge. Her eyes are bright and as normal, she is very alert to whats happening outside her enclosure. She is still very active making her rounds.
I have heard no wheezing or labored breathing. She eats as normal... I give her a varied diet that she seems to enjoy.
Her temps are ambient 90-100 with basking 110-120 and the cool side ambient 80-90. She makes full use of the gradient.
I also thought that it might just be from her nostril being closed up with something in there. She has been shedding, maybe its some skin or other debris that was lodged in there from her trying to push skin from her face.
Again, thanks for your input. I was a little panicked when I saw the green discharge. I will monitor her as recommended. I would rather not submit her to the stress of a vet visit unless it is necessary.
