Hi, my female kenyan sand boa just gave birth a couple of days ago. Does anyone know the best subtrate to use for the babies. right now i have them on paper towels, but i feel there has to be something better. any other advice for these new babies?

I just had my first litter a bit over a week ago, so I was initially unsure of what to use as a substrate. I started mine out on paper towels (what I saw most recommended on the internet), but shortly thereafter I found some aspen shavings and switched them out. The babies seem a lot less nervous in the shavings, and so far I haven't noticed any issues with the substrate being ingested during feeding or anything.

I always keep my babies on paper towel until their first shed and then switch them over to aspen.
