bloated stomach

zooanderson Sep 12, 2009 06:32 PM

I just noticed that my crested has an unusually bloated stomach. I am unsure what was caused this but would like some advice about helping the little guy. i just bought new calcium powder to see if its a calcium thing, but other than that i have no idea as to a cause. I am going to try to get it into a vet this week (hopefully Monday)if i cant resolve the situation.
Any ideas are helpful.

Thank you.
PS does anyone know a good herps vet in NH.

There is a really good vet in newington...right by the petco there. I dont remember the name unfortunately, but my friend is a vet tech and she takes a lot of the reptile cases there.

Becareful of supplements...too many could cause hardening of organs. I think thats what happened to one of my leos...she hemmoraged internally, and it seemes as though her liver was EXTREMELY swollen and hard. Adults should be supplemented like maybe twice if not once a week.

Your crested may have ingested substrate as well...

have you monitored it's stools at all? sometimes when they don't poop it could indicate that...could it be gravid? Is it in with others?

The stools look good so i dont think it is a impaction problem. I know it is not gravid being that it is kept alone in its cage and is also a male. Thank you for the advice about the vet i will give them a call.
