A couple of Imperials

Uk_Hybrids Sep 13, 2009 11:41 AM

Just thought i would snap a couple of pics while cleaning these two today.

1st A nice little Bi-Colour, slowly having a bit of a colour change, she was a uniform light peach , now orange is bleeding in.

The 2nd one is so hard to photograph, the orange is insane and on the black makes it worse for photagraphy, well for me it does and its way to cold for an out side photo shoot at the momment.

Cheers Clayton

i too love the bi-colours, you have to see that bottom one in the flesh though, that orange screems at you and also what you cant see in the pic is all the red infused into the black, its so hard to get it to show in photographs, the belly is white but orange under the tail.

I dont even know how the Red backs are looking at the momment, Ricky is the red back guy , we split up what we each want and dont get to see whats going on for a while/until they have grown a bit. its always a nice surprize when we get to see how everything is coming along that we havnt seen since hatching.
I will have a word with ricky.

Hows yours ? any photos yet.

Hi Paul,

it's always nice to see your animals. I'm curious if you have got some pastel king this year..?

Btw, your guy I have from last year is doing great. After some period of picky eater he turned up in pure acid machine which digest everything.. I did not try whole cow yet.. but I assume it would not problem for him..

Hello Paul,

really nice ones (meant those with bowtie). All of them cream? No any pink or orange?

I have got some 12 Pastels (3 het, albinos : 5 extreme orange, 2 orange and 2 MSP). Next year would be interesting and year after even more..

Hey Henry, Some lovely clutches you got their.

They are all real nice, gotta love what the imps do to create so much diversity within any single clutch.

all the clutches we produce throw up a fantastic array of different looking imperials, except for one pair that throw all leopards every time.

Cheers

Awesome pics Henry and everyone...
I had bad luck with Thayeri...my room is just too warm for most of the year and I can not have my cold room all that cold here in Texas during winter.
I am wondering if these Hybrids with Thayeri and Mt Kings may do better for me? I do very well with common Kings... and love these Hybrids, but the Thayeri factor keeps me from tyring them. What do you think?

Cheers Tom
Have you ever thought of getting a fridge for some Thayeri to brumate, add some vents install a small pc fan and you should get the temps you are looking for. ( just a thought ).

in the Uk we dont have the to warm temp problems, saying that a few years back we couldnt get things below 59 it was a warm winter, the Thayeri went just fine though.

what sort of temps are you getting.

Nokturnel Tom Sep 16, 2009 06:58 PM

I dont even check the temps. I can tell you this, sometimes during the heart of winter we get warm spells and I see a lot of my snakes cruising thier cages and drinking water. If I am lucky I will have 6 weeks in the 50s, more likely 60s...

You ever hear of a guy over there in the UK Andrew Leigh? Cool guy I met in Daytona

I dont know the guy you are talking about Tom.

As far as the Thayeri goes, we have had Pastel kings (Thayeri x Ruthveni) breed and lay valid clutches after no brumation concerning temps, just no light, all our cool down or light outs go for 3 months.

why not give it a try Tom, Hybrids definately seem to be much more forgiving than their pure parents.

Cheers

I've had bad luck with the Thayeri, Greeri, and Pyros too. This group however seems to do fine with same temps for Calfs etc

itsmimitime Feb 10, 2011 02:24 PM

What does thayeri-pyro-greeri-ruthveni-alterna-cambelli mean?

itsmimitime Feb 10, 2011 10:13 PM

Sorry, what I meant to ask is how were you able to obtain this hybrid and of what percentages of subspecies was it? Thanks in advance!
