Strange Behavior with my red foots

herps Sep 14, 2009 04:50 PM

ok i have had my female redfoot for a about two years now and my male for about 7 months or so and they have been acting very strange. she is very friendly while he walks away when we come out to see them. she also follows him around and mounts him while making some grunting noises. i am very confused by this now and was wondering if anyone knows whats going on cause i would like to know. i am hoping for babies sometime soon.

Could there be any possibility you have the genders confused? How large is the alleged male? How large are either of the tortoises for that matter? Females will sometimes mount other females in a dominance display or if they are eggbound. There have also been reports of intersex redfoots.
