Can you ID this Frog/Toad?

jw2 Sep 28, 2009 08:53 PM

It has the hind legs of a frog and the eyes of a frog but a build like a toad and was found pretty far away from any pool that would sustain life for frogs. He has warts like a toad and was found with other toads in a window well on the side of the house but he looks nothing like the common toads I usually save from the window well of death.

I must also add that I found it in the southern part of Delaware ( Sussex County ).

It appears to be a thin fowlers toad but hard to tell from just a top view do you have any side or ventral angles?

No, I dont have other pics.

It looks nothing like a fowlers toad if you ask me.

It has a pattern that resembles a crested gecko almost exactly.

It has very pronounced hind legs like a frog along with larger more beady eyes.

I let him go but I can probably find more.

The top view is the best way to tell.

Hard to tell for sure from the pic, but that looks like a Spadefoot Toad.

Looks like a Spadefoot. But, they would be on the ground,(live underground, show up after big rain) and I cant picture a "window well" It doesnt have toe pads for climbing, so i'm going with Spadefoot toad if your in that species range. Down here in N Fl. I moved 30 miles south and discovered my new place is full of Cuban treefrogs! (the only frog call I dont like, and dont scratch your eyes after touching, it feels like FIRE) I'm hope'in their not eating the "greens". Did you get any new tropical plants lately? Vic.........pic...let me know if you find these in the window well!
