Enclosure Construction

I finally got around to putting a cap on the divider that separates the Eastern juvies from the adult 3-toed, Rusty. Rusty has been finding his way over to the juvies side for the last few weeks. Every night when I go to put the boxies up, there he would be, in their leaf pile. At least it was easy to find him and there didn't appear to be any fighting.

So yesterday I got an eight-foot long piece of fence trim that is probably six inches wide and screwed it into the divider. It's solid as a rock and will hopefully do the trick.

Has anyone else had to modify the old BTE (box turtle enclosure) this summer?

Nothing major here: we had to add to the height of the solid visual barrier at one end because we have two new (to us) dogs that were obsessively watching "Turtle TV".
I will have to dig up and relocate some plants this fall, too.

Has the divider helped? I did some minor rebuilding of the pen I show on my YouTube video. I removed the old dividers on the male said-they were vinyl lattice strips- with treated posts stuck in the ground vertically-like yours. I replaced short sections of the lattice so the turtles could still see each other, but the bottom third has plastic edging on it so the turtles cannot bite each other.

It took DH a day to do, but it looks great now. I need to up date the video Tess

i added a new setion to my enclosure. I use concrete backer board as walls. I cut a 3' X 5' section in half lengthwise and it gives me 2 18" X 5' wall sections. Easy to expand by adding a new wall section whenever I want.
