CBB Green Anacondas

Had a litter drop this morning with some nice fat babies! For some basic data on the female. She ovulated the 2nd week of Feb, shed the first week of March, and then the development continued. Towards the beginning of September she basically looked like she had lost all of her weight a little more than the top half of her body and pushed it all towards the end. She then shed 9 days before she dropped this litter.

It was her first litter, I did not find any slugs, but she was very determined to eat anything and everything in the enclosure, so she could have eaten any few she had before I caught her.

Thanks!

This litter had a total of 16 offspring. The female is around 12' and coming up on 7 years old.

Thanks Jud!

nice to hear that she came through for you so well. She pretty much hit the mark on the numbers. First time females at the 12 foot size typically have 15 to 20 live young and a few slugs as a first litter. Curious to note that no slugs were produced, but as you stated, she easily could have eaten them beforehand. Definitely would follow the pattern, as I've never seen a post-parturition female not go for the slugs first thing. I think in the wild they want to get to them before anything else does. The neonates look very good, nice body weight and color. I collect a lot of data on captive produced litters, and so may be bugging you for some info. Again, great work.
