info on bog turtle acquisition needed

hi all.it's been quite awhile since i've been on here,but i'm back.i have had pretty good success breeding my spotties(4 eggs from 2 clutches,3 super cute babies).i've finally decided to try my hand @ bogs.unfortunately,i can't seem to find anyone with babies or young cb adults.i live in sc,and i've done my homework-i wont need a permit here,i already have one for my spots.is it legal to buy a bog from another state?if anyone knows of someone who can supply me with the info i need,i would greatly appreciate it.thanks in advance!

Hi Megalon,

Bog turtles live in South Carolina. You would need a permit from the State to keep them. Also, if you are having to buy one from across State lines, you would need a Federal permit in order to do this.

There are breeders in Florida. Captive produced bog turtles are almost always available at the Daytona show. They run about $500 for a hatchling.

Your first step would be to contact the State to see if they would even allow you to keep them. Good or bad, my experience is that they will not.
