Big Momma has landed (C.bibroni bibroni)

helenthereef Oct 08, 2009 09:12 PM

I'm excited!

I've been slowly rearing two young male C. bibroni bibroni (Fiji boas) and now they are finally ready to try breeding. I have just received a HUGE breeding female from my friend, and tomorrow we go for it.

Only thing I'm worried about is the size disparity: she is almost 2m long, the males are just over 1m. They only weigh about 225 gms, haven't weighed her yet but she's 4 times as thick. Doesn't look like a likely match, but I am assured it is physically possible, so here we go....

Here are some pics of Thomasina, she feeds weekly on chick and chicken portions, (I kid you not), and I hope is about to found a dynasty.

And here are the two males I want to put to her.

As you can see they are a LOT smaller, I'm just hoping
a) she doesn't eat them
b) they are capable of navigating!

Just weighed her: she's 1,500 gms, they are 225 gms each: this is going to be quite an uneven contest: hope she's willing! Will keep posting as we go, cheers.
