My long term pair of australis. Sorry for the mess, I took the pics as I was spot cleaning (obviously beforehand).

NICE!

A couple of questions:

Are those Boaphile cages?

Have you used the Reptibark? I see that you are using the larger wood chip substrate and wondered if you feel that is superior to the smaller Reptibark (or the like).

Great shots of the most beautiful australis I have seen!

Have you guy's bred your australis yet?

Not yet. I have botched the last couple of seasonal attempts. My female ovulates like clockwork annually, but the male only shows mild interest. I am going to attempt to stir him up this next season with some other males and the females shed. Here's hoping. Have you had any luck with them?

shame with such good looking adults, young will be stunning!

My female dropped 23 in August:

I've never used Reptibark. This is just cypress mulch. It has worked well so far.

The cages are Reptile Basics. They are great cages at a great price, but I will be switching to custom sized Repti-Racks soon. I prefer a sliding door vs. a hinged one.

I would have gotten better pics, but they were both trying to eat the camera.

How are your australis doing?

johnst_nhb Oct 15, 2009 06:05 PM

Thanks for the info, I may try the cypress.

Mine are doing well, I have a couple of small ones that have not switched over to mice yet, but I plan on a concerted effort this month. My big girl (whom I have had for 9 years) is doing great, and she has 2 suitors in with her now. We'll see...

Thanks for the pics, keep them coming!
