fluid behind front legs

O.K. I took my gecko to a reptile vet and he withdrew as much fluid as he could. It has a milky look to it.
Removed calcium. One week later - no improvement as yet. Anybody know what this is??? Vet had not seen this before......

I just came to the forum to search this same issue!

I found a post from Oct.7, 2007, in which someone asks about their leopard gecko that has fluid under the armpits, and someone else responded that it wasn't anything to worry about and that it sometimes happens with overweight geckos who are aggressive feeders.

My leopard that has the fluid under her armpits is plump, and I was wondering if her weight was a factor.

I'd love to hear from anyone who knows more about this issue.

I guess I'll just scale back my leopard's food a little.

I'm not sure and couldn't say because i've not seen them, but from what i've heard, isn't that a good thing? and just fat pickets that are a sign your gecko is a healthy enough weight to start breeding?? though i'd think the vet would know that, hopefully anyways.

Those pockets are for fat storage. unless your vet is a herpetologist he may not know this. they tend to store fat there for the winter cool down when they don't eat that much.
