I just purchased a second Solomon Island Tree Boa (Candoia Bibroni Australis) and wanted to know if there would be any potential problem keeping these two in the same enclosure?
Thanks,
Alex

I wanted to add the possibility of my newly aquired Candoi may be a Candoia Carinata Carinata not a Candoia Bibroni Australis like originaly thought, judging by a few pics I have seen. I don't think that will have any bearing due to the fact that they are both Solomon Island Tree Boas. Any info would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Alex
Mine all have voracious feeding responses. I keep them seperate for this reason and one other. I once put a group of aspera together and witnessed a large female attempting to wrap and eat another. I have heard of cannibalism in Candoia, so I do not chance it anymore.
Aside from the anecdote, have you quarantined the new animal for any length of time? I would seperate and monitor the new one for at least a minimum of 3 months.
Thanks for the reply SRX. I just purchased my second Candoia this past Saturday. I would really like to keep these two Candoia together in one enclosure but it doesn't sound like a good idea! I will post a few pics of my Candoia to see if anyone can help me identify which species I have. The first two pics are of my new Candoia. The second two pics are of my Candoia that I had for about a month now with no issues and feeding on f/t fuzzies.
Thanks,
Alex
My Candoia
Hi,
The first pic is definatly C.carinata and the second C.b.australis, I have a large mixed enclosure with female C.paulsoni and C.b.australis and have never had any issues, this is not so say you won't but the two you have are from different regions and require slightly different conditions.
Nice animals! Especially the australis, also I mix my C.carinata with my C.aspera and they go well together, there is always a chance with lots of sp. of snake that they could eat each other when housed together, not because they eat other snakes but because they are hungry and their feeding response takes over!
Cheers Matt

1.2.23 C.b.australis
3.5 C.paulsoni
2.0 C.tasmai
2.1 C.aspera
2.1 C.carinata
Thanks Matt for the species identification and info! I decided I'm not going to take a chance and keep these two in the same enclosure. If you could outline the specific differences between the recommended conditions in which to keep theses two, I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanks Again,
Alex
If I'm thinking right, that came from Rons table??? I thought it looked good, seemed healthy, but decided I didn't need to start another Candoia project. How's it doing for you?
I'm not sure who's table is was to be honest but I did purchase him at the Northwestern Berks Reptile Show in Hamburg, PA. He is doing very well! He is very arboreal unlike my Candoia Australis! I haven't tried to feed him as of yet but he does seem very healthy.
Alex
THE FIRST 2 PICS ARE CARINATA CARINATA...THE SECOND 2 PICS ARE AUSTRALIS....REMEMBER...CARINATA ARE NOT FROM THE SOLOMONS...THEY ARE FROM INDONESIA....HAVE YOU SEEN MY SITE?.....JERRY
Jerry,
Thank you for your response! When ever you hear people talk about "Candoia" your name always enters the conversation!! Yes, I have read through your page on Candoia and I thank you for that. I wanted to know if there was any specific care info available for each of the Candoia species or is the general care info you have provided satisfactory for all species and sub-species regardless of their local? Any additional info would be greatly appreciated as I would like to duplicate their natural habitat as accurately as possible!
Thanks Again,
