"solar drops"

boxiebabe Oct 26, 2009 04:22 PM

I just bought this stuff called Solar Drops, by T-rexproducts. The lable states that the product is liquid Vitamin D, and you're supposed to give one drop a week. Interestingly, the label also states that this product can be used in place of UVB lights. Does anyone have any experience with liquid vitamin D?

The tried and true method of raising most sun-loving reptiles is to use an appropriate uvb light...I would have to scour websites of top breeders[ like Kammerflage creations,FL chams,Screameleons] to take note of their methods. The problem with a product like that is always the possibility of overdosing.Maybe someone else has different input. The healthiest way to raise any cham. is to expose to natural sunlight at least several times a week...otherwise you need the lights. If you live in a state where it's warm year round and the cham.can be in the sun half hour or so every day, that does more than ANY light and the rest of the day indoors it can be housed with just a household bulb of adequate wattage to provide necessary heat

I doubt very much that the developers of this have tested it on chams and also doubt the claims. Exposure to UV light has more advantages than just vit D, and as the relationship of UV light to cham health is complex and so important I would not rely on this. Yes, it could be very easy to overdose it.
