Meet Mr. Fancypants

I have wanted to get another cham for a long time. And I have always wanted to build a sick chameleon canopy. I have only kept snakes for many years now, but when this guy came along I knew I had to take him. He was an MBD rescue that was kept in a glass cage with no UV etc, etc, you know the story. I have since had him on his current set up for 4 months and he is making a very nice recovery.

He is missing some toes but the open sores have healed. The wound on his chin from rubbing the glass is almost gone. His casque is crooked and it will always be but it is no longer flexible like it was. He has a few fused joints in his feet and tail too.

And this is him at 13 months...

Wow,that's really nice....great job, really and he doesn't really look mal-formed at all.I see that he even has 2 guard dogs to keep him from escaping. He doesn't know how good he has it.

Haha. He HATES the dogs. I only let them in the room when they are going to chill out.

How do you feed? One by one off on tonges or someplace else?

Yeah I usually feed by hand or with tongs. The previous owner had fed him out of a bowl for so long that is tongue was only about 3 inches long. Now that I make him use it it has stretched out a bit. Still doesn't have the range he should though.

I'm pretty sure that the tongue's inability to shoot out very far is also due to the mbd....still,he seems to be doing great and looks good.
