How long to poop?

viper8red Oct 29, 2009 03:49 PM

One of my large Candoia Aspera still hasn't pooped. It's got to have been about a month now. She is definitely fat but doesn't look to have any bloated or compacted area in her. I can feel her all the way up and down and nothing seems watery like a bloat nor dense or hard like something is compacted. She is kept with newspaper so I know she didn't injest anything that would cause a blockage.

How long do you think it will be till she poops? Normally she is pretty regular, every 2 weeks or so. I'm starting to get a little worried. I guess there is nothing I can give her to flush it out? They don't make snake diaretics do they? lol

She hasn't lost her apetite so i've kept feeding her and she soaks a lot like all Aspera. So i'm just waiting for the other shoe or poe to drop at this point. hehe..

any ideas?

Are you sure she isn´t in shed?

viper8red Nov 09, 2009 09:24 AM

Yep absolutely positive she's not in shed. She hasn't clouded a bit. It's been prolly 5 weeks now, maybe a little more. She doesn't get a ton of excercise so maybe she's just packing on the pounds and she hasn't lost any interest in feeding. I've backed off her feeding to one mouse every 2 weeks. I've handled her a little bit, you know, kinda get the juices movinig but still nothing yet.

On the flip side my other candoia started finally eating fuzzies after her 6 week random hunger strike. So it's ups and downs round here lol

Finally my viper boa "Nyx" pooped.. omg it was a lot.. Like a cat and a bird poo together. ewww.. but it was a full 2months before she pooped. Longest i'd ever seen. She really metabolized the bulk of the food i've fed her and gained a lot of weight. I'm thinking of backing off to 1 mouse every 2 weeks because she doesn't get a lot of excercise.

And my other snake Nemesis is now eating routinely.. so all is well :D
