Hey Candoia people
Can anyone tell me where my new paulsoni originate from?
Solomon islands, Halmahera?
Thanks for any input.

I would say it is a Halmahera, do you have any information of her? I asume that it is a female and i have quite good insight of the species here in scandinvia.
Ok thanks.
That was my first thought also.
I dont really have a history on her (its a female) i´m trying to trace her back thru previous owners.
The guy i bought her from had her for about a year, and the guy he bought her from bought it from a petshop.
So i think it`s a wildcaught that has been in captivity for a few years.
The first owner says it had babies before, but i dont know.

If only snakes could talk huh?
But then we might not want to smell their breath ;P
JONAS, I TOLD YOU LAST WEEK THAT ITS A PAULSONI....YOU DONT TRUST ME?....LOL
Hej Jerry
Sure i believe you, but i`m trying to narrow down exactly where it`s from. Halmahera, Solomon islands etc.
If it´s from Halmahera i would like my future Candoia to originate from Halmahera also.
Jonas
ITS A PAULSONI....WHICH MEANS ITS FROM THE SOLOMONS...NOT HALMAHERA....JC
Ok now i`m really confused.
I thougt paulsoni were given species status with 6 subspecies.
C. paulsoni paulsoni from the Solomons
C. paulsoni tasmai from Halmahera and northeast Sulawesi
C. paulsoni mcdowelli from PNG and Louisiade islands
C. paulsoni rosadoi from Misima and Louisiade
C. Paulsoni sadlieri from woodlark island and Louisiade
C. paulsoni vindumi from Bougainville and Buka
Is this all wrong or?
Jonas
I am not that familiar with the C. paulsoni ssp., but I do know this species is highly variable. Without having the importation paper work, there is no way to know which area your snake is from. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the C. paulsoni subspecies get elevated to species status in the near future.
Just my 2 cents,
-Chris
