3 Month old Panther eating plastic leafs

jwiganosky Nov 05, 2009 01:04 PM

Hi, My name is Julie and I have a baby Panther chamy that has decided he wants to chew on the stuff in his cage, including silk/plastic plants, climby vines, and even a plastic-covered twisty tie I used to attach his climby things. He really goes at these object! As I see him getting fixated on them I try to remove the objects, but he is tenatious. In every other way he seems healthy and happy, gets plenty of water, snaps up dusted crickets and worms, and is active.
Any ideas for me? I am looking for a big enough real Ficus plant, but I think he will just EAT IT!

Is he getting all the nutrients he needs? what do you gutload with? what various bugs do you offer him? Does he get sufficient water? Have you considered removing plastic plants and using safe non-toxic live plants?
