more TEGU HELP PLEASE

757monitorman Nov 07, 2009 10:02 PM

Yesterday I took my b/w argentine tegu to the vet and they said she appeared to be healthy. Well tonight I took her out and she was fine and then I put her back in her enclosure. When I shut off her daytime lights and put her night time light on she started getting up and moving around. After five minutes or so her tail started to move just like a snake. I was wondering if anybody knew why she was doing this? Keep in mind when she was doing this when a moonlight bulb was on so it was prob. pitch black for her. PLEASE if you have any knowledge regarding this PLEASE RESPOND!

It's usually a warning signal. It sounds like she was recently disturbed or feeling territorial. Lizards will sometimes wiggle their tails during a fight or when feeling threatened to distract the would be attacker from their head. I have a territorial female B/W that does this often when first removed from her cage.

Thanks A BUNCH for your response. I called my pet shop today to see if they knew anything about this and they said the same thing. I'm just happy its normal and not a sign of a medical issues. THANKS!!!
