I fell in love with a rubber boa over the summer and have been doing research on them since. My husband would like to get me one for christmas but we are having a hard time find a breeder in ontario. I cant seem to find the "rules" on having a snake shipped. Can someone point me in the right direction for rules in international shipping of rubber boas?

Thanks

Kellie

First you need to find out if rubber boas are legal to own in Canada, the province you live in, followed by the town/city you live in. Then you need to check CITES to see if they are under protection against trade. If Rubber boas Charina bottae, are listed, the seller will need to get a permit (at buyer's expense) to ship it to you.

To find out if the species is protected under Canadian, Provincial or Municipal law, there are a few sites you can check. But just for you to know, its not too likely you can find and have a rubber boa shipped to you before Christmas. If it does require a CITES permit, it can take several weeks just to get that done, perhaps longer.

These are the only sites I have handy, you will need to check your individual province and city webpages to be more specific with their laws. You can also contact your local Ministry of Natural Resources, Fish and Wildlife office as well.
