New Male Sanzinia

vegasbilly Nov 16, 2009 08:41 PM

I finally took the plunge! Been wanting to have these for years! His mate will come in 2 weeks! Mandarins. Proven pair that have been rested for a few years. It will be interesting as I haven't had any live bearers in ages! My Emeralds should finally go this year as well so it should be fun! Very, very cool snakes. Now, if I could just afford some Boelens.........

Nice animal. Would love to see a full body shot. It looks light. All the best.

Sanzinia are fun snakes. Good disposition, Good eaters, tolerant of keepers mistakes. Enjoy them. Who did you get them from?(if I you don't mind saying).

Very nice one! These are super snakes to have. These are both kitten tame and never refuse a meal. Male is four and the female is two. In a couple years...who knows???

Here's a better picture of my female. Not the "minty" green my male is but she's still nice.

Great new addition to your collection. I have a pair of greens that are hopefully locking up as I type. They are great snakes and always get peoples attention when I show them of as a lot of people haven't seen one before.

As requested a full body shot. Not the best. I'll have plenty of time to take pics down the road.

I put my 3.4 together several days ago and they have been going at it. Good luck everybody!

Best regards,
Jeff

Wow a Sanzinia orgy! Do you subscribe to the multiple-male theory for increased breeding success?

I believe that multiple males do increase the chances of ovulation/egg development. There are folks out there that do breed 1.1 but I suspect that 1.1 is the reason that there are so few litters produced each year.
As long as the males are supervised so that they do not harm each other, I see only added value to breeding trials.
I really hope the greens get produced this coming year-I would love to add several pair to the collection.
Guys, please keep us posted re: the greens. I remember when the greens were considered the "ugly/undesirable phase"!

Best of luck,
Jeff

I'm glad Sanzinia are getting some "air-time", especially the green ones!
My female is big I guess, 4'+ for a two year old, but once again she's only two. I'll have to sit on the breeding sidelines for a while. I have not seen any mating at this point. I have seen the occasional sperm in the water bowl when they share it but I suspect that's what males do, female present or not. I am going to just let them live together and see what happens. For all you "breeders" keep up the good work!!!

The wife took this pic earlier today. Rated PG...

The youngsters are a bit snappy, though.
