Breeding weight(s)

kangaskritters Nov 18, 2009 11:03 PM

I have a chance to pick-up an '07 pair of Limburg Albinos. I'm sure the female will be too small, but the male might be breedable this spring. How much do rosies need to weigh to safely breed?

Not sure on proper weights... but an 07 male should breed without problems next year, regardless of it's size... unless it's very unhealthy or something. Males don't need to be nearly as robust as females.

A 2.5 year old female will most likely be able to breed as well. If she's ~26 inches or bigger and not skinny, then I'd say she's good. Just feed her really well after brumation.... but if she's small you might want to give her another year to bulk up.
